Full Time MEP Teacher and General English Teacher
We are looking to hire one teacher for our Mini-English Program (MEP) and one teacher for our General English classes. The start date will be May 15th, though we can sign a contract as early as May 1st. We can also arrange for a slightly later start date depending on one’s individual circumstances.
The Jobs: (1) The MEP position--we are looking to hire one teacher to teach Science and Health to our 4th, 5th and 6th graders. The classes have set textbooks, activity books and so forth so resources are no problem. These classes are capped at 35 students and, in reality, range from 23-34 students so classes are quite manageable. Also, the classrooms are air-conditioned with computers, overheads, and internet access.
Hours for this position are roughly 19 per week. Only native speakers will be entertained for this position. (2) The General English position--we are looking to hire one teacher to teach general English classes to students not in the MEP--for this position we will consider both native speakers and teachers from the Philippines. This will involve teaching to elementary-aged children.
The Benefits: The school is quite generous in terms of benefits: a 12 month contract; 35,000 baht per month, a 32,000 baht per month bonus upon satisfactory completion of the contract; all work permit and visa fees paid by the school (in addition to reimbursement of travel expenses for the initial 90 day trip to Chiang Mai Immigration); reimbursement of a one way airplane ticket for overseas hires; health and accident insurance (40,000/400,000 baht); a native speaking boss (me), and a generally nice atmosphere in which to work here in beautiful northern Thailand. In addition, the foreign teachers have our own air-conditioned office building with copy machines, unlimited paper for copies, free coffee (a necessity in my view), a free daily lunch (varying in quality, it must be said), computers, printers, and internet access. We will also complete the construction of a new MEP building this April and it will have six modern classrooms, a resource library, and a computer center. The benefits are nice--I've been here in Uttaradit for 10 years and this is a nice gig.
How to Apply: At the moment we have 11 foreign teachers and it is a friendly group. I look for enthusiasm and nice people as much as substantive qualifications; that said, if you would like to apply for one or both of these positions, please send me (1) a brief letter telling me why you are interested in working for us, (2) an updated resume, (3) a scanned copy of the photo page of your passport, and (4) scanned copies of your academic credentials. You may contact me at anubanudit@excite.com or at kwangju23@yahoo.com.
Good luck with your job search in Thailand!
